S.I.S.T.E.R.S. was created in memory of my oldest sister Victoria. She passed away Saturday January 21, 2017. She was 32 years old. A mother of 3 Malakai(17), Michael(5) & Melanie(2). Her passing took our family by surprise. Devastated when we received the autopsy results; her heart was being over worked, it could not handle the stress she was under. That Monday Victoria was scheduled to go back to nursing school for the 3rd attempt. Desperately wanting a better job for her family; but finding it challenging to complete her degree.
Like so many moms, having a child also makes it challenging to “snap back” into your pre-pregnancy body. Being fit & being a mother sometimes doesn’t work in the same sentence. Thinking of the obstacles I knew Victoria to be struggling with I realized there may be countless other women going through the same! For Victoria working out was placed on the back burner after a long day of work. It was time to focus on her children. There was no additional sitter help. I also began to think of the countless women I encounter who struggle to figure out how they can squeeze fitness time in their busy schedules. The constant thread I found was that these women were pushing their needs to the side to take care of their families & children.
By nature women are caring, loving, nurturing and above all selfless. Whether it’s laundry, cleaning the house, making meals, studying for a degree or trade, getting the kids ready for school, assisting with homework, doing your own homework and much more there are countless women feeling out of wack & have a lack of balance in their day-to-day lives. When do mothers get a break? Why are women left feeling guilty for taking time out for personal balance, educational growth and wellness? I say NO MORE!! S.I.S.T.E.R.S. is here to help!!
